I visited Hanoi, Vietnam’s famously crazy capital, for the first time

One of the many things you’re told to expect when you go to Hanoi is mental traffic; I’m talking roads thick with mopeds, motorbikes and cars, travelling without

Suan Sati Yoga Retreat, Chiang Mai, Thailand

What to expect on your first yoga retreat

It was difficult to decide where on my blog to place this trip. Health? Yes, my decision to escape from the city to a safe, spiritual haven was entirely to rejuvenate my mental and physical health. Travel? Of course, I travelled 2hrs 45mins to Chiang Mai, Thailand from Hong Kong to enjoy the peace and the (slightly) cleaner air of Thailand. Food? Abso-fucking-lutely. I have never had a vegan diet for longer than a day, so this immersive plant-based experience was also a first for me.

It was a trip that ticked all the boxes, clearly, so the Suan Sati Yoga Retreat is up there on my list of destinations if you’re travelling to Chiang Mai, particularly if you’re lucky enough to have a good chunk of time there. You can book a night or two, like many passing travellers or, like me and three other Hong Kongers trying to escape the stress and madness, book a few nights to consciously withdraw from reality - to, quite literally, retreat.
